Background
Rob and Carol Ridlinghafer are the owners of Oasis Pool Service in Tucson, AZ. Acquired in 2019, shortly after Carol’s retirement from her career in Retail, Rob and Carol saw a great opportunity to grow the business by providing exceptional service and responsiveness to their customers. Rob isn’t new to the pool service business. From his high school days, Rob has worked for other pool service businesses, in addition to starting his own pool service company, which he built and eventually sold to a larger pool company in Southern Arizona. Learning from years of hard work, experience and mistakes, Rob knew what it would take to build Oasis into a thriving and profitable company. Add to that Carol’s experience from her retail years, and you have a winning combination for running a great small business.
The Challenge
To accomplish their vision for growing Oasis, both Rob and Carol knew that finding and keeping excellent employees was critical. They also learned early on that trying to handle all of the paperwork for employee onboarding, HR compliance, processing payroll and filing payroll taxes, among other things, quickly became cumbersome, time-consuming and added additional risk to the business. The Result
Rob and Carol have been thrilled with the results Focus HR has delivered. Carol feels relieved not to have the weekly stress and hassle of dealing with payroll and all the associated tax filings and compliance. Rob is excited to have a good HR system in place that helps the business look and feel more legitimate and offer similar services and benefits that larger companies provide. Both are also excited to see growth in other ways, as they just acquired a new building and property, giving them some much needed additional space for expansion.
